Industry hails budget

COIMBATORE, MARCH 3. The Southern India Engineering Manufacturers' Association has welcomed the Tamil Nadu budget.

In a release, the association president, C.R. Swaminathan, said the announcement to energise about 45,000 pump sets in rural areas would boost the sales of agricultural motors and pumps.

He also welcomed the allocation of Rs. 750 crores to renovate the State highways and bridges, the allocation of Rs. 248 crores for quality electricity supply in rural areas and the proposal to form a committee to control pollution in forests and river beds.
