HYDERABAD, MARCH 3. The Telugu Desam Legislature Party on Thursday charged the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, with `dictating' terms to the Chair and getting the House adjourned. Addressing a press conference, TDP leaders -- T. Devender Goud and Nagam Janardhan Reddy -- took exception to Dr. Reddy's observations, which, they said, forced the panel Chairman, D. Sridhar Babu, to adjourn the House. "We had no option but to protest against it in the House after the sudden adjournment." It was unbecoming of the Chief Minister to put the condition that if the BJP floor leader, G. Kishan Reddy was given a chance to speak on minimum support price for farm produce, some more Congress members should also be allowed. It was also wrong on his part to ask the Chair to adjourn the House and continue the debate later.
Power charges
On the issue of waiver of electricity charges to SC and ST colonies, the Government behaviour was peculiar, they said. The Finance Minister, K. Rosaiah, suddenly made a statement without any prior notice and disallowed any one to seek clarifications. He and Mr. Goud said it was a clear indication that the Government was not serious even on a subject affecting farmers though it claimed to be pro-farmer. "It simply wants to complete the formalities relating to the running of the House and run away," they alleged.
