High Court stays proceedings in Manohar case

By Our Legal Correspondent

HYDERABAD, MARCH 3. The Andhra Pradesh High Court has stayed further proceedings in the criminal court against Manohar, prime accused in the murder of Srilatha, an MCA student in Vijayawada.

Justice C. Raghuram was dealing with a petition filed by Manohar who sought transfer of the case from Vijayawada. It may be recalled that Srilatha was killed by Manohar in the classroom when she refused to succumb to his overtures.

Manohar complained to the High Court that the Advocates Association in Vijayawada had passed a resolution to the effect that none of the advocates shall appear to argue his case. He contended that he was entitled to legal assistance and the case had to be transferred to any other court outside Vijayawada. The petition was admitted and the proceedings stayed pending further orders.
