KURNOOL, MARCH 3. The Endowment Minister, M. Satyanarayana Rao, created a flutter at the inauguration of an eye bank by the Governor, Sushil Kumar Shinde, on Thursday with his off-the-cuff remarks. Drawing the attention of the audience to the political importance of Kurnool as the capital of Andhra State in 1953, Mr. Satyanarayana Rao said in case Telangana was separated, Kurnool would emerge once again as capital of Rayalaseema. Mr. Rao said he was not a supporter of Telengana but in case it was separated from the State, Rayalaseema would have no option other than to have Kurnool as its capital. Those who read between the lines inferred that he visualised three different States from Andhra Pradesh. He made another controversial statement by saying he considered Mr. Shinde the Chief Minister of Maharashtra even now besides the Governor of Andhra Pradesh. Earlier, many an eyebrow was raised when the IG, Rayalaseema, R.P. Meena, opened the issue of debate on him in the House with the Kurnool MLA, M.A. Gafoor, while waiting to meet the Governor at the guesthouse.
