HYDERABAD, MARCH 3. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) members staged a novel protest after the House was adjourned on Thursday by remaining in their seats for sometime, resenting the abrupt end to the proceedings. The panel Speaker, D. Sridhar Babu, adjourned the House at 1.50 pm after calling the Agriculture Minister, N. Raghuveera Reddy, to reply to the debate on the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers. Even as Mr. Reddy began the reply, BJP MLA, G. Kishan Reddy, urged the panel Speaker to give him an opportunity to speak.
Debate conditional
The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, intervened to remind Mr. Sridhar Babu that the debate was taken up around 1 pm on the condition that D. Narendra Kumar of TDP would be the lone speaker and the Minister would wind up with his reply. Dr. Reddy preferred postponing the debate to Friday if the proceedings could not be completed before 1.30 pm. Leader of the Opposition, N. Chandrababu Naidu, said legislature conventions permitted the members to seek clarifications on the Minister's reply. The proceedings in that case could be delayed. After hearing both, Mr. Sridhar Babu adjourned the House to meet again on Friday morning. The TDP members, including Mr. Naidu, remained in their seats as all others left. The party Whip, P. Keshav, later said they protested against the manner in which the Chief Minister `rode' over the panel Speaker in the conduct of the business of the House.
