NEW DELHI, MARCH 3. The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party today urged the Lieutenant-Governor, B. L. Joshi, to remove the State Food and Supplies Minister, Raj Kumar Chauhan, from the Cabinet for his alleged links with "corrupt officials'' of the Food and Supplies Department who were recently raided and arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on corruption charges. In a letter to Mr. Joshi, the Delhi BJP president, Harsh Vardhan, demanded that the Lieutenant-Governor take the initiative to remove Mr. Chauhan from the Cabinet as "not only the departments but also the Minister had come under a scanner". Similarly, he said the CBI should be asked to take action in the matter and probe the assets as well as the actions of the Food and Supplies Minister. Claiming that a huge scam had been unearthed in the departments falling under Mr. Chauhan, the BJP said the diary recovered by the CBI from the arrested Enforcement Officer of the Food and Supplies Department contained names of people who were allegedly paid by him.
