Nagarjunasagar: World Bank aid urged

HYDERABAD,
MARCH 4.
The Government has decided to seek Rs. 3,000 crores from the World Bank to modernise Nagarjunasagar system to mark the project completing its 50th year of construction on December 5 this year.
The Irrigation Minister, P. Lakshmaiah, told reporters after a review meeting on irrigation presided over by the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, that it was also decided to construct a memorial to honour Jaffar Ali, who worked as the chief engineer of Nagarjunasagar while under construction. He said a committee would be appointed on Krishna delta seeking suggestions how best this system could also be modernised.
