Rahul Bajaj to step down as Bajaj Auto MD

NEW DELHI, MARCH. 4. The Chairman of Bajaj Auto, Rahul Bajaj, today went public with his decision to step down as the Managing Director of the company. He will be shedding his responsibilities as the Chief Executive of the company with effect from March 31.

"I will continue to be the Chairman of the company as long as the board wants me,'' Mr. Rahul Bajaj said on the sidelines of a business media meet here. Once he steps down, his son, Rajiv Bajaj, and nephew, Sanjiv Bajaj, would get the additional responsibility in the company. Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, according to indications given, will succeed him as the managing director. He is now the Joint Managing Director of Bajaj Auto.

While Mr. Rajiv Bajaj on elevation to the MD post will handle the entire operations, Mr. Sanjiv Bajaj will head the International Marketing and other functions.
