An error of judgment: CPI(M)

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, MARCH 4. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) said today that it disagreed with the BJP's demand that the Jharkhand Governor, Syed Sibtey Razi, be recalled following the controversy over inviting the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha to head the coalition in the State.

"We do not agree that the Governor should be recalled. However, we do feel that he [the Governor] should not have taken a decision in a hurry and at the same time grant 21 days time for the new Government to prove its majority in the Assembly," the CPI (M) parliamentary leaders, Nilotpal Basu and Basudeb Acharia, said.

The CPI (M) leaders felt that there was an "error of judgment" and the BJP's demand for recall a "political call." They criticised the BJP for stalling the proceedings of both Houses of Parliament. The BJP, they said, did not have the moral right to raise the issue as in 2000, Nitish Kumar was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar even though the Janata Dal (United) did not have the majority.
