Naxals torch RTC bus
By Our Correspondent
ADILABAD,
MARCH 4.
Maoists torched an RTC bus belonging to the Asifabad depot near Kukkadam village in Bejjur mandal in the wee hours of Friday.
According to the police, six masked naxalites descended on the village at around 2 a.m. and proceeded straight to the RTC bus, a night halt service. They forced the driver to take the bus about a kilometre away where they poured diesel on it and set it on fire.
In a note left behind at the scene, the Maoists said they had resorted to this act in protest against the February 25 Karimnagar encounter. They also gave call for north Telangana bandh on March 6.
The Maoists threatened all TRS and Congress leaders who attended the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy's "Rajiv nagara baata'' at Kagaznagar and Bellampalli on February 19 with dire consequences.
