NALGONDA, MARCH 4. Seven persons were killed in a freak accident in near Madhavaram village of Munugala mandal in the wee hours of Friday. A trolley laden with iron sheet bundles each weighing about 18 tonnes hit a tree when the driver tried to negotiate a curve. In the impact of the crash, iron sheets rolled onto the cabin crushing those sitting inside and killing them on the spot. However, the driver and the cleaner managed to escape with serious injuries. They were shifted to Suryapet area hospital. The trolley was proceeding to Hyderabad from Vijayawada. The police extricated the bodies using cranes and gas cutters. The dead, all agricultural labourers, were identified as Lingamma (45), Chandraiah (45), Antaiah (50), Anjaiah (55), Venkanna (35), Chandramma (30). The identity of the seventh victim, a woman, could not be ascertained immediately. All of them hailed from Ramaram village of Suryapet mandal.
