CHENNAI, MARCH 4. The State Government will facilitate participation of SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) in government-approved international and national IT trade shows and exhibitions toenable them to tap new markets, according to the Chairman of ELCOT, Vivek Harinarain. A 30 per cent subsidy would be allowed in stall rent for participating SMEs whose turnover did not exceed Rs. 10 crores in the preceding year. Mr. Harinarain said the objective was to provide assistance by way of subsidy to the SMEs for participating in the government-approved trade shows. Only IT companies registered with SSI / MSI / STPI and having their registered office in Tamil Nadu were eligible for subsidy. The subsidy was limited to 30 per cent in respect of the stall space (shell space only) and rental for Rs. 9 per metre subject to a ceiling of Rs. 45,000 for international exhibition and Rs. 27,000 for national exhibition. The IT companies could receive travel aid / subsidies from the Government of India in addition to the incentive provided under this scheme. Interested companies should register only online. Registration `Form A' would be made available in the ELCOT web site, he said.
