Clouds, rain again
The maximum temperature recorded at Safdarjung on Friday was 26.8 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature was 17.3 degrees Celsius. At Palam, the maximum temperature was 27.3 degrees Celsius and minimum was 18.4 degrees Celsius. A rainfall of 3.6 mm and 1.3 mm was recorded at Safdarjung and Palam respectively. The maximum humidity at Safdarjung and Palam was 92 per cent and 80 per cent respectively minimum was 52 per cent and 49 per cent respectively.
Minor girls rescued
According to the police, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Kamla Market police station received a tip-off that three minor girls from West Bengal had been sold to a pimp. Subsequently, he raided the place and rescued the victims, following which they were produced before the Children Welfare Board. The three were then sent to Nirmal Chhaya after counselling with the help of a non-government organisation. Efforts are on to identify and trace the person who had sold the girls.
Five `robbers' nabbed
The police said they received a tip-off that some criminals had gathered in a DDA Park at Dabri. They raided the place and arrested five suspects, identified as Rahul Singh, Praveen Sharma, Rakesh, Manoj and Sonu. According to the police, a country-made weapon, two knives, a stolen chain, a mobile phone and a wrist watch were recovered from them. The police said during interrogation the accused disclosed that they committed robberies in the evening hours at deserted places like Naseer Pur Kallar.
Fireman injured
According to a fire department spokesperson, a call was received around 5-30 p.m. claiming that a Maruti car had caught fire near the Malai Mandir intersection in R.K. Puram. Immediately, a fire fighting team was rushed to the spot. Even as the firemen were dousing the flames, the cooking gas cylinder exploded. The fire tender driver, Ram Kishan, sustained serious injuries and had to be rushed to Safdarjung Hospital. Three others also sustained minor injuries.
Impersonators arrested
The principal of Sarvodaya School in Timarpur had lodged a complaint with the police on Thursday about the impersonators after which they were arrested. While one of the accused was a minor, the second accused was identified as Mahesh Kumar (23). They were sitting in place of original candidates for the Social Studies paper, the police said.
