GUNTUR, MARCH 5. The police arrested a naxalite, Mandli Chinna Mallu Swamy, belonging to the Veldurthi Local Guerilla Squad at Gangulagunta in Veldurthi mandal on Saturday. The Superintendent of Police, Jitender, told newsmen that Mallu Swamy, a tribal, was involved in four murder cases and blasting of a police station and a telephone exchange.
Arms haul
ADILABAD: The Utnoor police on Saturday recovered two .303 rifles and a couple of detonators from the site of an exchange of fire at Bavapur in Utnoor mandal on February 28 in which a Maoist courier, Kishan, was killed. The police also recovered 14 rounds of live ammunition and two spent bullets of .303 rifles, two kitbags, a tent, clothes and party literature left behind by Indervelli dalam members. The Adilabad Superintendent of Police, Kripanand Tripathi Ujela, told reporters here that the police had persisted in their search of the place in a radius of 1 km because the Maoists had fled in different directions following the exchange of fire. The Utnoor CI, S.K. Ismail, and the SI, B.V. Satyanarayana, led a search party and were assisted by a dog squad.
