PATHANAMTHITTA, MARCH 5. Gabriel Ramban, Augen Ramban, Zacharia Ramban and Juhanon Ramban were ordained Bishops of the Malankara Orthodox Church at St. Paul's and St. Peter's Chruch at Parumala today. As many as 10,000 faithful assembled at the church town of Parumala to witness the auspicious occasion. The Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan, Moran Mor Baselius Mar Thoma Mathews-II, was the chief celebrant at the consecration ceremony, which began with a holy eucharist at 7 a.m. The Bishop-designates were taken to the Madbaha of the Church by the Catholicos and other Metropolitans of the Church, later. The four new bishops were christened Gabriel Mar Gregorios, Augen Mar Dioneseus, Zacharia Mar Theophilus and Juhanon Mar Chrisostum. With this, the number of Bishops in the Malankara Orthodox Church has gone up to 25, besides the Catholicos, said Jose Parakadavil, public relations officer of the Church. The Catholicos-designate, Thomas Mar Themotheos, Geevarghese Mar Osthatheus, Thomas Mar Machareus, Abraham Mar Savareus, Mathews Mar Epiphaenus, Thomas Mar Thanaseus (Chengannur), Thomas Mar Athanseus (Kandanad), Geevarghese Mar Evaneos, Kuriakose Mar Cleemis, Mathews Mar Savareus, Zacharia Mar Anthoneus, Geevarghese Mar Koorilos, Paulos Mar Pachomeus, Yakoob Mar Ireneus and Zacharia Mar Nicholaos assisted the Cathoicos in the consecration ceremony. The supreme head of the Mar Thoma Church, Philippose Mar Chrisostum, the Thiruvalla Bishop of the Malankara Catholic Church, Isaac Mar Cleemis, Issac Mar Peelexinos of the Mar Thoma Church and the Bishop-designate of the Mar Thoma Church, K.U. Abraham Ramban, the Orthodox Church secretary, Alexander Karackal, and the PRO, Jose Parakkadavil, were also present. The Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, inaugurated a meeting to felicitate the new Bishops at the Church, later.
