ADILABAD, MARCH 5. A resurvey of crop damage during the hailstorm in Adilabad district in January has been ordered by the district Collector, J. Sudha Rani, on Saturday in response to a demand by the Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) members at the general body meeting. A majority of the members contended that the survey by the Agriculture Department was incomplete in terms of extent of area and extent of crop damage. The Boath MLA, Soyam Bapu Rao, and the ZPTC members -- Jogu Ramanna (Jainad), Palvai Sudhakar Rao (Bejjur) and Bheem Reddy (Neredigonda) -- and others stated that many of the villages where damage to standing crops during the hailstorm was extensive were not covered by the survey. They were asked by the ZP Chairman, Lolam Shamsunder, to provide a list of villages in their mandals so that the Agriculture Department could do a resurvey. The members also raised question related to the cotton purchase by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) on minimum support price. The Assistant Director, Marketing V. Srinivas said given the MSP of Rs. 2,010 could not be given to the cotton because the produce did not match the standards fixed for MSP purchase. The Adilabad MP, T. Madhusudan Reddy, the MLAs -- C. Ramchander Reddy (Adilabad), A. Indrakaran Reddy (Nirmal), N. Diwakar Rao (Luxettipet), Koneru Konappa (Sirpur), Govind Naik (Khanapur) and A. Sridevi (Asifabad) -- and ZP Chief Executive Officer S. Rajaiah were present.
