KOCHI, MARCH 5. A Regional Transport Authority (RTA) meeting which was held here today did not arrive at a decision on the issue of diverting long-distance private buses through the Kaloor-Kadavanthra road. This comes in the wake of opposition from bus owners to the proposal to allow two-way traffic for buses. A special RTA meeting will be held on March 11 to discuss the issue and a final decision can be expected then, said the District Collector, A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish, who is the chairman of the RTA. Repairs of roads, clearing footpaths of weeds and encroachers and modifications to be made at Kaloor and Kadavanthra junctions will be done soon, he said. On vehicles ramming into road medians on Sahodaran Aiyyapan Road at night, he said the corporation had to take measures to fix lights to make the medians visible to motorists. Many buildings on the stretch were yet to be acquired and this too had been hampering the smooth flow of traffic.
