Train services extended for Sivarathri

KOCHI, MARCH 5. Train no. 633 Coimbatore-Thrissur passenger will be extended to Aluva on Tuesday in connection with the Maha Sivarathri festival. The train will leave Thrissur at 9 p.m. and reach Aluva at 10 p.m.

Train no. 615 Thrissur-Kozhikode passenger will start from Aluva instead of Thrissur on Wednesday. The train will leave Aluva at 4.40 a.m. and reach Thrissur at 6.02 a.m. This train will leave Thrissur at 6.05 a.m. instead of the usual 5.50 a.m. These trains will stop at all stations between Thrissur and Aluva, according to a communication from Southern Railway, Thiruvananthapuram Division office.

Injured in accidents

Six people were injured when a private bus collided with a tanker lorry near Lakeshore hospital at Maradu. The injured are Velappan, 50, of Kochukarithra, Panavalli; Anilkumar, 50, of Arookutti; Valsala, 48, of Arookutti; Aravindakshan Pillai, 60, of Pottamveedu, Aroor; and Jayavarghese, 38, of Thumboliveedu, Maradu. The injured were admitted to the Lakeshore hospital.

In another accident, T.P. Saleem, 56, of Chalakudi, was admitted to Lakeshore hospital, with injuries after the lorry he was driving hit another lorry near Kundanoor junction.

Workshop on patent law

K.T. Sankaran, judge of the Kerala High Court, inaugurated a workshop on patent law organised by the All-India Lawyers' Union here today. Mr. Sankaran said that detailed studies should be conducted on patent law. N.S. Gopalakrishnan, Director of School of Legal Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology, spoke on new trends in patent law.

B. Ekbal, former Vice-Chancellor of Kerala University, spoke on "Patent law amendment — its impact on health service." M.T. Sukumaran Nair, Managing Director of Travancore Chemicals Ltd., spoke on "Patent law amendment — its impact on consultancy and engineering."

University staff's plea

The Cochin University Employees' Association has urged the university authorities not to de-link the Cochin University College of Engineering at Pulinkunnu from the university.

The association leaders said in a communication that attempts were on to bring the college under other self-financing technical institutions in the State.

Accident claims workshop

M.N. Krishnan, judge of the Kerala High Court, inaugurated a workshop today on third-party claims in motor-vehicle accidents organised by National Insurance Company Ltd. The workshop was held at the regional office of the company.

Office shifted

The office of the Kerala State Electricity Board's Chottanikkara Electrical Sub-division office and section office will start functioning from Darsana Park Buildings on Bypass Road junction near Chottanikkara from Wednesday, Assistant Engineer in-charge of the Electrical Sub-division, Chottanikkara, said in a communication.
