Computer-based education in Government schools

VISAKHAPATNAM, MARCH 5. The District Primary Education Programme (DPEP) is taking measures to provide computer-based education to 30,000 children, studying in Government schools in the district, during the next academic year, according to the DPEP Additional Project Coordinator, M.V. Govindarajalu.

He said that a quotation was submitted to the Andhra Pradesh Technology Services for supply of 200 computers to 260 school complexes. The computers would be supplied to the schools at the beginning of the next financial year. Mr. Govindarajalu said that computer-based education was already being provided to rural schools in the vicinity of Rajiv Internet centres. Mr. Govindarajulu said that this year 11,000 children were imparted education through the computers available at 26 high schools, mandal resource centres, the computer at DIET (Bheemunipatnam) and through the 13 Rajiv Internet centres.
