PONDICHERRY, MARCH 6 . The Union Ministry of Water Resources has nominated S. A. Abbasi, Director, Centre for Pollution and Energy Technology (CPCET), Pondicherry University, as a member of the Indian National Committee on Hydrology for 2004-07. The committee, an apex body, has been charged with coordinating various activities relating to hydrology in the country. Dr. Abbasi won the Environmental Engineering Design Award for 2004, instituted by the Institution of Engineers, Kolkata. He also received the National Hydrology Award in 1995 from the Ministry of Water Resources. He has been an advisor to the Union Ministries of Science and Technology, Water Resources, Environment and Human Resources. He has authored 33 books and 350 technical papers.
