HYDERABAD, MARCH 6. The Union Ministry of Environment and Forests has accorded environmental clearance for the Rs. 400-crore Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City coming up on the outskirts of Visakhapatnam. The Special Representative of Andhra Pradesh in New Delhi, Mallu Ravi, told reporters here on Sunday after calling on the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, at Secretariat that the Pharma City project along with the 27-km-long Visakhapatnam-Bhimli road has obtained the environmental clearance. The Andhra Pradesh High Court had stayed the road project on the ground that the environmental clearance was not obtained. The Kailasagiri ropeway project valued at Rs. 38 crores in Visakhapatnam was also accorded environmental clearance. Likewise, a technical committee of the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests also gave environmental clearance for Komaram Bhim Peddavagu medium irrigation project in Adilabad district.

The Chief Minister would hold a high level meeting on March 30 to discuss the progress of irrigation projects. Mr. Ravi said that the Chief Minister has decided to install a life size statue of former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi on the Necklace road.
