It is a Bihar here: Hooda

CHANDIGARH, MARCH 6. The Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, today said the law and order situation in Haryana was similar to that of Bihar, and declared that curbing lawlessness and corruption and providing a ``terror-free'' administration would be his top priority. The contentious SYL canal issue, employment generation and decentralisation of power are the other issues that came up during Mr. Hooda's first news conference after a meeting with the State's administrative secretaries here.

Mr. Haryana was fast turning into a Bihar as far as law and order was concerned, he said and made it clear that peace was paramount for progress.

Mr. Hooda said his Government was committed to providing a ``corruption-free, terror-free and transparent regime'. ``Criminals and the corrupt will not be spared,'' and those working under ``political patronage'' in the past should give up their activities and join the mainstream.

On Ministry expansion, he said: ``soon.''
