DEHRA DUN, MAR. 6. Security in and around the Indian Military Academy ( IMA) here has been further tightened following the killing of three suspected militants, allegedly belonging to the Lashkar-e- Taiba ( LeT), who had planned to target the prestigious Academy. They were killed in an encounter with the Delhi police yesterday. "Security had been beefed up and combing operations launched in the areas around the IMA several days ago after receiving intelligence inputs that the ISI might target strategic establishments in India. The list included the IMA and suitable steps have been taken to secure all strategic establishments in the State'', the Principal Secretary, Home, S. K. Das, told The Hindu today. The Uttaranchal Chief Minister, Narayan Dutt Tiwari, had visited the IMA for an on the spot assessment of security measures last week. "We will ensure the safety and security of the military and civil population of the State and the police and intelligence machinery have been placed on top alert'', he said. The security measures include setting up of armed pickets, closed circuit TV sets and a close vigil on the traffic flowing on the highway near the IMA. Efforts are also being made to trace telephone calls made to Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal from here over the past few weeks, sources said.
