NEW DELHI, MARCH 7. Mohinder Amarnath, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Maninder Singh and Atul Wassan form the panel for the `Fourth Umpire' to be shown as part of the live telecast of the upcoming three-Test series between India and Pakistan in DD-1 and DD Sports. Charu Sharma gets another chance to be the moderator, while Roshni Chopra will present the common man's perception of the day's play. The programme will be shown for half-an-hour before and after the day's play. It will be available for 40 minutes during the lunch-break. Doordarshan's Deputy Director General, Sudhir Tandon, introduced the panel members to the media on Monday. He said a few "surprise" elements were also being planned to make the show more enjoyable. Mr. Tandon also clarified that Sony had been given the rights for overseas telecast only. Srikkanth, known for his forthright views, said the programme would continue to bring out the finer points of the day's play. Wassan mentioned that due to the upright nature of the comments on the show, some of the players did not have kind things to say.
PTV gets rights
PTI reports The State-run Pakistan Television (PTV) has acquired the rights to telecast the series in Pakistan by paying $ 650,000. Announcing this at a press meet in Islamabad on Monday, the Pakistan Information Minister, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, said, "it is quite costly but, in view of the interest these matches generate here, PTV has decided to acquire the rights."
