MYSORE, MARCH 7. To mark its 40th anniversary, the Computer Society of India's (CSI) Mysore chapter has organised a talk on cyber crime by the Police Commissioner, Pravin Sood, on Friday at the Bahadur Institute of Management Studies at Manasagangotri here. A press statement from the CSI said the talk, which will begin at 5 p.m., is part of the CSI Day celebrations. The CSI, a body of information technology (IT) professionals, computer scientists, IT users, researchers and students, took birth in Hyderabad on March 6, 1965, before establishing its headquarters in Mumbai. With the motto "ICT (information and communication technology) for the masses," the CSI is striving to promote the IT industry and services, IT applications, research activities, training and development of world-class IT professionals. The CSI has 65 regional chapters and over 130 student chapters.
Tie-ups
It has tied up with a host of professional organisations and brings out publications. It arranges national and international conferences on the state-of-the-art technologies, and has also instituted awards and fellowships. With a view to spread and develop technology at the grassroots level, the CSI offers a number of incentives to students such as the "Young IT Professionals" award, besides organising a talent search, the release said.
