NEW DELHI, MARCH 8. In a tragic hit-and-run accident, the son of the Hindustan Times bureau chief Vinod Sharma, Kinshuk, was killed when a speeding truck ran over him at Ashram Chowk in South Delhi on Monday night. It all happened around midnight when 20-year-old Kinshuk and his friend Shashank were going on their motorcycles to have dinner at a South Delhi outlet. Kinshuk was taking a turn towards Bhogal at the Ashram Chowk intersection when a truck hit him from behind and ran over him. While the truck vanished from the scene after the accident, Kinshuk succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Though Shashank tried to stop several vehicles for help, it was only after the police reached the spot that he was taken to the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences where he was declared dead on arrival. Enquiries revealed that the truck involved in the accident had sped towards Faridabad in Haryana. The police have registered a case and are trying to trace the vehicle. The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon. Former Prime Minister V.P.Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi along with senior party leaders Ahmed Patel, Ambika Soni, Kapil Sibal and Jaipal Reddy were among a large number of people who attended the funeral at the Lodhi Road crematorium. Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh sent his condolences to the bereaved family.
