KOLLAM, MARCH 9. R. Muraleedharan and Surendran Kadakode have been elected president and general secretary respectively of the Kerala State Sanskrit Teachers' Federation (departmental schools). The other office-bearers are Kallazhi Krishnankutty, D. Reghuvaran and K. Pradeep Kumar, vice-presidents, C.K. Sajith Kumar, N.K. Ramachandran and M. Rajani, regional secretaries, and N.K. Girija, treasurer. From the private schools section of the Federation, Ashokan Puranattukara and Karunakaran Kanjirode were elected president and general secretary respectively. The other office-bearers are N. Rajagopal, P.N. Madhusoodhanan, T.K. Santosh Kumar and B. Laila, vice-presidents, P. Vijayan, R. Narayanan, D. Sasidharan and S. Manilal Pillai, regional secretaries, and M.G. Ashok Kumar, treasurer. They were elected by the 27th State conference of the Federation, which concluded in Malappuram on March 5.
Federation demand
In a statement here, Mr. Surendran Kadakode said that the conference also passed several resolutions pertaining to the long-standing demands of Sanskrit teachers. These include introduce Sanskrit study at schools from the primary level, fill up all vacancies of Sanskrit teachers and grant headmaster posting to language teachers on seniority basis.
