MUMBAI, MARCH 9. The Sahara Group has signed a three-year contract with the Indian women's cricket team that will leave for South Africa on Thursday for the World Cup to be played from March 22 to April 10. Mr. U.K. Bose, Sahara India's Deputy Director, presented the official bright blue colour clothes to the players here on Wednesday. Thanking the Sahara Group, skipper Mithali Raj said she is confident that her team will perform well. "After a round-robin league between eight teams the top four will play the semifinals. If you ask me to pick a team as the favourite I will place my team on top. We beat New Zealand 4-1 and lost to Australia 3-4 in the home series. These two teams were the finalists in the last World Cup,'' said Mithali. Shubanghi Kulkarni, Secretary, Women's Cricket Association of India, acknowledged the role played by television anchor Mandira Bedi for supporting women's cricket in the last two years and for initiating the three-year contract with the Sahara Group.
