MANIPAL, MARCH 9. P.M. Gopinath, senior scientist at the Kasturba Medical College's Life Science Centre, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), was awarded the lifetime achievement award at a function held at the Centre for Cellular Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad, recently. A press release issued by MAHE said the award was given in the presence of eminent scientists from the Indian Society of Human Genetics, a premier body for Indian and international genetic research, which hosted the function. Speaking on the occasion, the Director of CCMB and president of the society, Lalji Singh, lauded Prof. Gopinath's contribution in the area of human genetics, especially those related to human diseases, according to the press release. The award was constituted in the memory of the late Prof. L.D. Sanghvi, who was the founder-member of the society established in 1974, the press release added.
