This Day That Age
The sixteen-month-old Andhra State is expected to get its second Government by the Telugu New Year Day - March 25. The United Congress Party, which swept the polls in the recent general elections, will be installed in power. The Governor, Mr. C.M. Trivedi, is expected to invite the leader of the Legislature Congress Party soon after his election, thus ending the President's rule promulgated three months ago. With the merger of the Krishikar Lok Party in the Congress, the election coalition becomes a unified single party except for the five members of the Praja Party. The APCC General Body and Congress members of the newly elected Andhra Assembly will meet in Vijayawada on March 11 and 12 when questions relating to the composition of the new Andhra Cabinet and election of the new Pradesh Congress chief would be finalised. Mr. U.N. Dhebar, Congress President, and some other members of the Congress High Command including Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri, Mr. Dev Kant Barooah and Mr. K.P. Madhavan Nair are arriving in Vijayawada on March 11.
