BRUSSELS (BELGIUM), MARCH 10. A group of unarmed Iranian passengers refused to get off a Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt today, saying they wanted the return of the Iranian monarchy. "This is not a hijacking," said Astrid Kaisen, a Belgian police spokeswoman. The plane landed at Brussels International airport at 3 p.m. (1400 GMT), and the protesters remained on board after most of the 59 passengers left. "They are sitting on the plane and they don't want to come off," Ms. Kaisen said, adding that police negotiators were talking with them. "No force has been necessary and no extra security measures were taken," she said. A woman, who claimed her father was among the protesters and called her with his mobile phone from the plane, said the group members were supporters of Iran's late Shah. AP
