Srivatsa and Tapasi win titles

CHENNAI, MARCH 10. K. Srivatsa (RSB, Chennai) and Tapasi Sarkar (Kolkata) won the men and women's singles titles respectively in the all-India Civil Services table tennis tournament here on Wednesday.

The results:

Men's singles: Final: K. Srivatsa (RSB, Chennai) bt Kaushik De Sarkar (RSB, Kolkata) 11-8, 11-9, 7-11, 11-6, 11-4.

Semifinals: Sarkar bt Harish Kumar (Chd) 11-8, 11-3, 11-8, 11-6; Srivatsa bt Amit Srivatsava (Kan) 11-5, 11-4, 11-9, 11-7.

Third place: Srivatsava bt Kumar 12-10, 11-6, 9-11, 11-7.

Women's singles: Final: Tapasi Sarkar (Kol) bt Manisha Rana (Baroda) 11-8, 11-7, 11-4, 11-6.

Semifinals: Tapasi bt Sonal Joshi (Baroda) 6-11, 11-3, 11-2, 11-6, 11-9; Manisha bt Madhumutha Goin (Kol) 13-11, 10-12, 11-5, 11-9, 13-11.

Third place: Madhumitha bt Sonal 11-8, 11-3, 6-11, 11-9.

Veteran's final: K. Jairam (H'bad) bt C.S. Kulkarni (Mum) 11-4, 11-7, 11-9.

Mixed doubles final: K.V.P. Rama Rao/C. Smitha (Bhu) bt Amalan Patra/S. Tapasi (Kol) 11-8, 8-11, 11-8, 18-20, 11-5.
