BANGALORE, MARCH 10. ASC emerged champion of the BDFA's `C' division football league, trouncing Sri Gajannana 5-0 in a lop-sided final at the football stadium here this evening. ASC, Sri Gajannana and third-placed DYSS, which defeated Students Union 2-0, in an earlier clash, earned promotions to the `B' division for the next season. ASC, which won 3-0 in the clash of the two teams in the league stage, looked far superior and seized the initiative right from the kick-off. In the very third minute, a Thirunavakarasu chip saw rival stopper Gopal sending the ball into his own net in attempting to clear it. Thirunavakarasu headed home a Rakesh Singh cross past custodian Raghavendra for ASC's second strike. In the second half, there was no respite for Sri Gajannana as Raghu Kumar in the 43rd minute and then a twin strike from Raju Biswas (57th and 68th) completed ASC's tally. Earlier, DYSS got its goals through Dayanand (6th) and Kalandhar (55th).
