BELLARY, MARCH 10. The weeklong religious festival, "Sri Raghavendra Saptaha Mahotsava," will begin at the Sri Venugopal Temple at Patel Nagar on Friday.
Discourses
The religious programme comprises discourses by eminent scholars and "homas" to mark the birth anniversary of Sri Raghavendra Swamiji. Sri Vidyadheesh Teertha Swamiji of Phalimar Mutt, Udupi, will participate in the programme and deliver a lecture on each day of the programme. The programme has been organised by the Sri Raghavendra Saptaha Acharana Samiti, Hospet, and Mantralaya and Dasa Sahiltya Project, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), Tirupati. Sri Sushmeendra Teertha Swamiji of Mantralaya, will inaugurate the programme, Sri Vidyadheesh Swamiji, Phalimar Mutt, will preside over the function, and Sri Appannacharya, Special Officer of TTD, will be present during the ceremonies.
Ceremonies
"Navagraha Homa," "Bhagawat Saptama Skanda Swahakar Homa," "Manusookta-Vayustuthi Punahascharana Homa," "Pavamaana Homa," "Sri Sookt-Purushasookta Homa," "Sudarshana Homa," and "Dhanwantri Homa" will be performed till March 17. "Keerthanas" by Bhadragiri Achyutdas, and a ballet by artistes from Bangalore and Mysore will also be performed during the festival. Saraswati, Shrirangam, Gayatri Navada, and Jyoti Vithal, will speak on "Stree Samajika Nilavu" at a session on March 16. Jayalakshmi Mangalamurthi will chair the session. Patrons and donors will be felicitated at the valedictory function.
