SRINAGAR, MARCH 10. The Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, is likely to attend the flagging-off ceremony of the first bus to Muzaffarabad from here on April 7, highly-placed official sources said. The Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, is also visiting Uri on March 29 and scheduled to interact with the people of the border town. Sources told The Hindu that both the Government and the Pradesh Congress is keen to see the Prime Minister flag off the bus service. Sources said though the programme has not yet been finalised, there are indications that Dr. Singh may preside over the special function. "I think he is coming as it is a landmark development," said a senior Minister in the Government. The Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who has a "special love" for this important confidence building measure, is also keen to have the Prime Minister on the occasion. "But we are waiting for the formal programme from the Prime Minister's Office," he said.
