ISLAMABAD, MARCH 10. Pakistan has proposed convening of the 13th SAARC summit in mid-April and is awaiting confirmation from member-States. According to senior officials in the Foreign Office, after preliminary consultations, Islamabad has proposed that the postponed summit could be held between third and fourth week of April. It expects a response from all member-States in a day or two. "If everything works according to schedule, an announcement on the new dates could be expected by the weekend," senior officials said. The summit has been postponed twice first due to the tsunami disaster that hit the region and then due to India's decision to pull out of the summit following developments in Nepal and security situation in Bangladesh. Since the second postponement, in its capacity as SAARC Chairman, Pakistan has been engaged in consultations with member-States for early convening of the summit. During the visit of the External Affairs Minister, K. Natwar Singh, here in February, India and Pakistan agreed to work on early convening of SAARC.
