Meet on GO 610 ends abruptly

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, MARCH 10. An all party meet convened by the Cabinet sub-committee on the 610 GO ended on an inconclusive note on the issue of interim implementation of the Girglani Committee's recommendations in job reservations and postings.

The meeting attended by the Congress, the TDP, the TRS, the CPI, the CPI (M), the MIM, Janata Party, BJP and SP representatives and presided by the committee chairman, M.Satyanarayana Rao, had no two opinions on the implementation of the recommendations.

But, the TDP sought complete data on the existing ratio of Telangana and Andhra employees from all 202 departments before embarking on the exercise.

Its representatives, Y.Ramakrishnudu and Kadiam Srihari, pointed out that it was the TDP that constituted the Girglani Committee and it was all for the implementation.

The TRS leaders, G.Vijayarama Rao and T.Harish Rao, the CPI leader, Ch.Venkat Reddy, the CPI (M) leader, N.Narsimhaiah, the MIM representative, Akbaruddin Owaisi, the Janata Party MLA, K.Ramulu, and the Samajwadi Party MLA, D.K.Aruna, were in favour of a beginning of at least an interim exercise.

The Congress voice of dissent was from Gade Venkat Reddy who raised the issue of declaring Hyderabad as a `free zone,' which was instantly shot down by TRS representatives.

Other Congress members including the Ministers, D.Srinivas, J.C.Diwakar Reddy, Koneru Ranga Rao and M.Satyanarayana Rao, agreed that the Girglani Committee report needed a favourable consideration at once.

In the end, absence of complete data - only 39 departments have submitted report - became an alibi for the meeting failing to come to any conclusion.
