LONDON, MARCH 10. Australian leg-spinner, Shane Warne, has committed to play for Hampshire County Cricket Club for another four years, it was announced this morning. Warne, Test cricket's leading wicket-taker, has signed a two-year contract and another optional two-year rolling deal with the county. He has also expressed his plans to become a Hampshire resident. "This is fantastic news," said Hampshire chairman, Rod Bransgrove. Warne first joined Hampshire in 2000 season and was made captain of the county last year. In all, he has taken 121 first-class wickets for the club at an average of 23.56. He is currently playing in Australia's Test series in New Zealand. Simon Katich, the left-handed batsman, is another Australian cricketer, who has already been signed to play for Hampshire, until he is called for Ashes tour duties.
