CHAMARAJANAGAR, MARCH 10. The Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, H.S. Mahadev Prasad, has said that the Government has taken steps to reopen the Kunthur Mahadeshwara Sugar Factory in Kollegal taluk. Inaugurating the Khadi India Utsav 2005 at Shikshakara Bhavan here today, Mr. Mahadev Prasad said Nagarjuna Ltd will shortly reopen the factory. He urged the people to give priority to "swadeshi" goods. Thirty-five per cent rebate has been given by the State Government and the Centre to encourage the sale of Khadi and Gramodhyog products, he said. The utsav will be held till March 19. The Karnataka State Khadi and Gramodhyog Board, Bangalore, and the Chamarajanagar Zilla Panchayat are organising the exhibition to create awareness on khadi products. The MLAs, Druvanarayan and Balaraju; the NABARD officer, Raghupathi; the ZP member, Saraswathi Linganna; the Deputy Commissioner, Harshs Gupta; the CEO of the ZP, S.M. Somashekar; and the district Khadi Gramodhyog Officer, M.T. Harishchandra; were present.
