HYDERABAD, MARCH 10. Officials of the Bureau of Indian Standards seized large cache of cement from the premises of Rukmini Pulversing Pvt. Ltd., located at Medchal industrial estate, on the charge of using spurious ISI mark. In a press release here on Thursday, BIS Hyderabad head, O.N. Srivastava, said that a raid was conducted on the company that was making ordinary Portland cement without a valid licence. Empty bags of `Supriya' cement brands were also seized. The BIS official said action was being initiated against the offender under the BIS Act, 1986. The offence is punishable by imprisonment up to one year or a fine up to Rs. 50,000 or both. He urged the public to inform his office on the Nampally station road, at fax - 23201241 or email: hbo@bis.org.in, if they come across any cases of misuse of `ISI' mark.
