HYDERABAD, MARCH 10. The sensational murder of a realtor, K. Sai Baba Reddy, in the Ranga Reddy court building 10 days ago was a contract killing, the Cyberabad police announced on Thursday. Five of the nine persons arrested in connection with the killing were hired assassins. They admitted to have accepted Rs. 1.5 lakhs from relatives of a slain Telugu Desam Party leader, M. Narsimha Reddy, in whose murder case the realtor was the prime accused. While seven other accused were at large, two were yet to be identified, the Cyberabad DCP, Mrugesh Kumar Singh, told a press conference.
`Hired killers'
The realtor and his companion, P. Sri Devi, allegedly killed the TDP leader on September 22 last in their Nagole house before dumping and setting afire the body at Gurramguda on the city fringes. Both of them were arrested in the case and were out on bail recently. Close relatives of Narsimha Reddy, including his 22-year-old son, T. Vinod Reddy, allegedly hired the killers to take vengeance, the DCP said. The accused -- S. Ram Reddy, J. Srinivas Reddy, E. Ram Reddy, E. Venkat Reddy, Karunakar Reddy, S. Bhupal Reddy and S. Krishna Reddy - allegedly struck a deal with Narsing Yadav, J. Rajanikanth, Thakur Anil Singh, D. Ravi Kumar and V. Satish Goud to eliminate the realtor. A day before the murder, they reportedly met in Rajdhani lodge in Autonagar and worked out the details.
Chased and axed
The accused divided themselves into four groups and lay in wait in and around the court premises to ensure. One group, led by Ram Reddy and Yadav, allegedly sprinkled chilli powder on Sai Baba Reddy when he came out of the court hall accompanied by Sri Devi and two others. Ram Reddy allegedly attacked him with an axe on the staircase. He allegedly chased the realtor even as the latter ran inside the court, caught up with him on the corridor and hacked him to death before fleeing the spot. The DCP appreciated the L.B. Nagar police and the Special Operations Team who nabbed the accused.
