BANGALORE, MARCH 10. The Bangalore Police Commissioner, S. Mariswamy, on Thursday inspected security arrangements at the District Civil and Sessions Courts complex where a Special Court is set to hear the Rs. 66.63-crore disproportionate assets case against the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, from Monday. The Special Judge, A.S. Pachapure, will hear the case.
Routine check
The Police Commissioner described it a routine check and said security arrangements will be made within the court complex and in the Special Court during the hearings. "We are ready for it," Mr. Mariswamy said. The Registrar of the District and Sessions Courts had requested the police for adequate security during the hearings.
Media enclosure
The court hall designated for the hearings, which is on the first floor, is being enlarged by knocking down a wall which partitions it from an adjacent hall. Extra furniture and an enclosure for the news media will be other additions to be made in view of the importance of the trial.
Fresh bonds
All the accused in the case, including the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Sasikala Natarajan, will have to execute fresh bail bonds here. The bonds executed by them earlier are valid only in Tamil Nadu, according to sources. All the accused on whom summons have been served will either have to appear before the Special Court on Monday or file for exemption from personal appearance.
