THANJAVUR, MARCH 11 . Tremendous changes have been taking place in marketing technology as information technology plays a vital role in this segment, said Hemalatha Balasubramanyan, Senior System Analyst in US Technology Resources, California, while delivering a guest lecture on e-commerce at the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India National College here today. Nowadays various buying and selling practices were followed through on-line transactions and anything could be bought by just clicking a mouse attached to a computer. In developed countries, transactions take place only through online services to ensure safety and speedy process, she said. How marketers check the purchase and credit history of online customers, track the address of customers visiting web site, how to attract potential buyers through innovative advertising strategy are the aspects involved in supplier side. While customers wish to buy certain commodities over the Internet, they have to take a decision to purchase a commodity at a competitive price through display of new items, brand name, mode of payment, reliability, mail in rebates, return policy and gift certificates. These are all prevalent in the US. In India, it will become operational in course of time, she said.
