District machinery gears up for smooth conduct of SSC exam

By Our Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM, MARCH 11. All arrangements for smooth conduct of the SSC examination at 238 centres in the district from March 16 have been made. The District Educational Officer, R. Surender Reddy, said that examinations would not be held under trees or shamiyanas. He, however, added that verandas may be used for the purpose. Alternative arrangements would be made wherever furniture was inadequate.

Giving details at a press conference here on Friday, he said at the 12 problem centres identified sitting squads would be positioned to prevent malpractices. Besides, nine flying squads and a team comprising headmasters and revenue and police officials have been constituted.

Prohibitory orders under Section 144 would be in force at the examination centres. There would be an invigilator for every 20 students. In view of complaints received last year, Dr. Surender Reddy said, all the Chief Superintendents including those in private schools were from the Government departments. Visakhapatnam, Gajuwaka and Bheemili have 119 centres, the rural areas, 91, and the agency areas, 28.

Hall tickets

The DEO said hall tickets had already been despatched to schools and those who had not received them may download them from www.aponline.gov.in and get it attested by a gazetted officer or headmaster. Students would not be allowed to attend the examination in their school uniforms, but should wear a formal dress.

Fifty visually impaired students would write the exam for whom scribes would be allowed. The other physically challenged would also be accommodated in a staff room or headmaster's room. A cell has been set up at the DEO's office to monitor the examination. If any problem arose, the DEO (9849909103) or his office (phone nos. 2562240/2710600), or the Assistant Commissioner of Examinations (9440166359) may be contacted.
