Stage set for a grand jubilee

BANGALORE, MARCH 11. The budget has earmarked Rs. 10 crores for Kannada and Culture for celebrating "Suvarana Karnataka" to mark the 50th year of the integration of the State.

It envisages the establishment of a "Kuvempu Samskrithika Kendra" to support translations of the works of the Kannada poet Kuvempu and others under the Suvarana Karnataka programme.

It proposes a uniform annual grant of Rs. 15 lakhs each to the 10 academies in the State.
