`Questions in optional subjects of KPSC exam out of syllabus'

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE, MARCH 11. The Karnataka Graduates Forum has said that some of the questions in the optional subject papers of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) examinations conducted this year were out of the syllabus.

Demand

The forum has demanded that the candidates who have taken the examination be given grace marks for all the questions that were not from the syllabus.

Upendra Shetty, President of the Forum, told presspersons here on Friday that 17 questions in the Political Science paper were out of syllabus and four questions had errors in them. Questions from out of the syllabus can be asked only for General Studies subject and not for optional subjects.

This was against a Supreme Court ruling on the matter, he said.

Each question in the Political Science paper carries 2.5 marks. Since 17 questions in the paper are out of syllabus, all the candidates should be awarded 52.5 grace marks for that particular paper, he said.

He added that in the History paper, in three of the questions which have multiple choice answers, only two or three of the answers are correct.

All this has demoralised the KAS candidates who have taken the examination this year.

The KPSC was playing with the future of the candidates, h alleged.

Immediate clarification should given on this issue, he said.

Mr. Shetty said that the key answers to all the question papers should be displayed on the KPSC website.
