Kendriya Vidyalaya

admissions

Admissions into Classes I to X, which are in progress at Kendriya Vidyalaya-INS Kalinga in Bheemunipatnam, will continue up to this month-end. According to its principal, A. Padmavathy, admission is open to all candidates, and there is tuition fee exemption for girls up to Standard X and for boys up to Standard VIII. Details can be had by ringing up 08933-228802.

Medical aid

Railway employees and their spouses are entitled to medical facilities after retirement under the Railway Employees Liberalised Health Scheme-1997, as long as the retired servant survives.

According to the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager the East Coast Railway's Waltair Division, the retired railwaymen having the requisite qualifying service period, and spouses of rail employees who had died in harness, can join the scheme on or before the end of 2005. The option has to be exercised before the deadline by paying one month's basic pay corresponding to the V Central Pay Commission scales and dearness allowance.

Dasa keertanas

The Madhwa Sangham is organising a seven-day training camp at Sri Raghavendra Swami Mutt in Ramnagar from Sunday for those interested in singing Dasa keertanas in specified ragas, according to its secretary, D.V. Ramanarasu. It will be imparted by L. Ranga Rao of Chennai.

Meditation camp

Jain Swetambar Terapanthi Sabha, Jain Swetambar Terapanthi Mahila Mandal and Terpanthi Yuvak Parishad conducted a Preksha meditation camp at the Central Prison in Adivivaram on Wednesday. The camp head, Samani Sheel Pragya, explained to the prison inmates the different ways of meditation that would enable them to achieve positive thinking in their day-to-day life. The sabha president, Kamal Baid, the parishad, Sanjay Jain, and the Assistant Prison Superintendent, Sayeed, were present.
