DUBAI, MARCH 12. Drawing a parallel to Steven Spielberg's film, `Terminal', a Keralite has been stranded at the Bahrain International Airport in Manama for three days, after his local sponsor sold off the business where he had a stake and cancelled his entry visa. Spielberg's movie `Terminal' portrays a Balkan immigrant who makes an airport transit lounge his home, after learning that the borders of his war-torn country had blurred, voiding his passport and leaving him without a country. The cold-store entrepreneur from Kozhikode, who prefers to give his name only as Amir, returned from a vacation only to find that his sponsor had sold the business. He also did not turn up to give Amir the return ticket. Amir told the Bahrain Tribune on telephone that his sponsor had spoken to him two days before he left Kozhikode but had given no indication of the plans to sell the cold-store shop. With no proper food for the past three days and down with fever, he was now at the mercy of the immigration officials, Amir said. Indian community organisations are meanwhile trying to help Amir. - UNI
