Ex-MLA dead

HYDERABAD, MARCH 12. Mandapati Nagi Reddy (87), veteran CPI leader and former MLA, died at Dachepalli on Friday night. He is survived by wife, two sons and five daughters. Reddy represented Macharla and Gurazala constituencies. His funeral took place at Nadikudi on Saturday.

Condoling the death, S. Sudhakar Reddy, MP and party secretary, said Reddy did yeomen service to people as president of the Guntur district Rythu Sangham as also the State unit. He was the CPI Guntur district secretary and played an important role in the struggle for Nagarjunasagar project and the Nadikudi-Bibinagar railway line.

While offering his condolences to the bereaved family, the MP described the death as a great loss to the Communist movement.

K. Narayana, CPI assistant secretary, G.V. Krishna Rao, State Council member, and Shaik Nazarvali, MLA, also condoled the death of Nagi Reddy.
