Chided for watching TV, student ends life
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD,
MARCH 13.
A degree first-year student, Jayashree (19), committed suicide by hanging after being admonished by her mother for watching television, at Humayunnagar here on Saturday
"Inquiries revealed that the victim's mother used to chide her for watching a lot of TV," the Humayunnagar police said.
Whenever, reprimanded, Jayashree used to lock herself in her room and come out after a while. On Saturday afternoon, she picked up an argument with her mother when the latter objected to her watching TV. Jayashree then walked into her room and bolted it from inside. Her mother grew suspicious when the girl did not come out till 7.30 p.m. She informed the neighbours, who unscrewed the doors and found the girl's body hanging from the ceiling.
The police have registered a case and are investigating.
